Breaking New Ground: First Official Government Digital Platforms
The project represented a significant milestone in the digital transformation of government communications, marking the establishment of the first official presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and the official government website. Designed to enhance two-way communication between the government and the public, the initiative played a crucial role in combating misinformation, with content presented in Arabic, English, and Kurdish.

The project’s strategic direction involved the development of a multi-disciplinary team, including videographers, video editors, and creative designers, to create a unified approach to messaging and visual storytelling. This included defining the communication tone, overseeing creative content, and managing the production of visual materials aligned with the project’s goals.

Key responsibilities included writing and directing video scripts, collaborating with videographers to ensure creative vision, and overseeing the editing process to ensure consistency and quality. Close collaboration with stakeholders, such as project funders and beneficiaries, was essential to align strategic goals and messaging.

The role also involved procurement and management of creative assets, coordinating with freelance videographers, negotiating contracts, and acquiring visuals to enhance the platform's content. Critical elements of the project included the execution of strategic campaigns focused on national unity, reconciliation, and highlighting the economic and cultural diversity of various regions.

Challenges included meeting tight deadlines, training the team to maintain an official tone, and developing strategic messaging. Training involved preparing the team to work with high-level officials, producing content that was both creatively engaging and politically sensitive.

Several campaigns were launched as part of this initiative, including “DedicatedToService”, which promoted strategic national goals, dialogue, and reconciliation in post-conflict environments. These efforts formed the foundation of a comprehensive digital communication strategy that left a lasting impact on the nation’s media landscape.
